When the dentist becomes the patient

Recently, Dr. Ahed became an implant patient who needed four implants. This gave him a unique knowledge about implants and resotrations. He learned how restoring implants (Abutment & Crown) can be very successful provided its done properly and by experts. There are a lot of things to be taken into consideration, whether the patient is a candidate for implants or not, whether a bone graft should be done immediately after an extraction, so on and so forth. When the implants are done successfully, the restorative part cannot be taken lightly. If the Dentist does not use a quality lab and does not follow the necessary steps, the end result is a complete failure. Proper proximal contact and perfect occlusion is the key to a successful treatment. Yesterday I delivered two restorations on implants and they came out absolutely perfect, everything fit like a glove. My primary goal is to achieve perfect occlusion among other things. My experience as an implant patient helped me learn a great deal. I am always excited to learn and improve my skills, I guess that is why they say we "practice" dentistry.
